bass trap/raised seating

I am filling this with aucoustic insulation ( Auralex ), i want it to act like a bass trap. my question is will it be affective?

This would work. You would need to know the room response prior to tuning it.

The riser in the link I provided is a broadband device and no doubt VERY effective. I was wrong in saying that one required tuning, you could just scale those plans to your room. It had been a long time since I read it.

Yours will work as well.

The size of the openings is where the tuning is I believe. (Maybe someone better qualified will chime in.)

If you want to target specific freq's, google "Helmholtz riser" and do a little reading, it's facinating stuff.
