i just bought a sub and set it up and it seems that no matter where i place it i have areas of the room with way overexagerated bass, what are some tips for reducing this effect, btw the sub is sitting to the right of the entertainment center and a few inches off the wall, i have tryed placing it in different locations, but all that does is changes the location of the bass pockets.

You can't completely fix it without room treatments. Is this a small room?
