Basics for large room layout

Hi,
I'm planning to buy a new tv and an audio system both to be put in a large room which is roughly 40'X26'. The TV area is about 24'X14'. The majority of the time I will want the whole room filled with music from a tuner source and/or computer source. I will only require the speakers for movies and tv about 30% of the time. So do I buy a "home theatre system" or a loud speaker system? Since the room is so big I would like a 45"-50" flat screen tv. I'm not a big sound buff so I'll set the total budget at $4000. I'm more concerned about advice about the audio....most importantly what are the necessary components needed. I can pick out the brands on my own.
Thanks in advance,
Dan

For that large open area, you will want efficient 8 ohm floorstanding speakers for the mains.

Check out the Klipsch reference series at a local dealer. If you don't like the horn loaded tweater sound, an Axiom Audio system with M60's, VP150, and QS8's would probably also work well. I think that 5.0 will run around 2-2.5k.

I would consider purchasing a good 12" sub from SVS or HSU ($500-1K) over a Klipsch sub.

For about $700 you can get a Yamaha RX-V2500 or Denon 3805 receiver. That should leave you a little money for speaker wire, cables, DVD player, etc.
