Basics for large room layout

Hi,
I'm planning to buy a new tv and an audio system both to be put in a large room which is roughly 40'X26'. The TV area is about 24'X14'. The majority of the time I will want the whole room filled with music from a tuner source and/or computer source. I will only require the speakers for movies and tv about 30% of the time. So do I buy a "home theatre system" or a loud speaker system? Since the room is so big I would like a 45"-50" flat screen tv. I'm not a big sound buff so I'll set the total budget at $4000. I'm more concerned about advice about the audio....most importantly what are the necessary components needed. I can pick out the brands on my own.
Thanks in advance,
Dan

Well your going to need a really big sub and it will take a big chunk of your budget to get one that will fill that room. You will probably need to look into some dedicated amps as well so if you get a reciever instead of seperates make sure it has pre-outs.

A few things: That is a large room to fill with sound. The times when you want it filled with music, is that for background music or you want loud music in there for parties?
For the movie part, do you want surround sound? or just stereo?

Maybe, when you want music all over that room, a 2nd zone set up in the other half of that room be beneficial? The sub for movies then would not need to be extraordinary if you are not too interested in its participation in music.
If you want surround sound with the movies, I would suggest a receiver. if you need more power, or amp for the 2nd zone, there are less expensive amps that could do a good job, perhaps a Behringer A500 at $180.
With some further answers, you may receive better info.
