Basic Questions with an LG Display

I've just bought an LG LC7D37" and I have a few questions to address:

1. it seems that is the HD signal is not turned on; I am using an old cable, not the one from the package - it could be it?

2. i hate the way the closed caption looks like. How could I change the font?

3. IS there a way to access the expert mode using a secret 4 digit passord or something?

I'm also not certain you would want to immediately start messing with the Service menus. Typically the user menus can give you more than enough control - though I haven't seen this TV as of yet.

I'm not sure you have a ton of options on Closed Captioning.
