Basic connections advice

I have an ancient turntable (with an FM receiver) and want to connect it to a more modern amplifier (a Yamaha RX-V365).

The back of the turntable only has two RCA outputs that are indicated as 8 ohm max.

The question: is the output of this turntable an amplified output that might damage my Yamaha amplifier if connected to its inputs?

Is there a way to safely connect this to my speakers without risking components?

It really depends on the record player/combo unit....what make/model is it? RCA outputs for speakers (it appears by the impedance warning) aren't a good sign that you can connect it to any modern avr without some sort of line level converter, tho. There are no other types of connections otherwise on the old unit?

No, this one is an antique (Emerson M2293A, I can't find a date, but it's old) and on the back it only has FM antenna connection and RCA jacks.
What line level converter would I use, assuming that the output is for a speaker?

The RCA outputs for 8 ohms are most likely for speakers.

All the other connections between the turntable, FM radio, pre-amp, and amplifier are internal. I don't see a way to connect it to your Yamaha receiver.

This is the answer, thanks. I will try connecting directly to speakers or get a more modern turntable.

That turntable/receiver sounds like the centerpiece of a compact stereo that was originally sold with a pair of speakers. If it has a volume, bass, treble and other controls, that would guarantee that. Likewise, that "8 ohm only" label guarantees that only speakers should be plugged into it.

While I might not find it worthwhile, there are speaker level (high level) to line level (low level) converters that may be on no different quality level than the source ....just search. May not be the best quality but as I say, may not matter due to your very limited source.
