Hello All-
We are currently finishing our basement and will be having an area for a home theatre. This area will not be enclosed, but rather a multi-purpose area.
Since we wanted the system to sound good and be installed correctly, we called in two local theatre specialist. Now that we have the quotes, we are not sure which products are better than the others.

Here are the details of the equipment proposed from each vendor.

Manufacturer Model Description Quantity

Marantz SR6001 Surround Receiver
DVD Player My Choice - Since Blu/HD battle is still on-going
Niles HDLCR 3
Niles CM760DS 7" Ceiling Speaker 4
Niles SW12 12" 260 watt 1

Manufacturer Model Description Quantity
InFocus IN78 DLP Projector
Draper Onyx 92" Hi Def Gray
Denon AVR 2808CI
DVD Player My Choice - Since Blu/HD battle is still on-going
Speakercraft AIM 7 MT3 2

Speakercraft Bass X Dual 9 - 8" 1

Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

two questions:

what is your general budget ?

do you want in-walls, on-walls, or are normal speakers ok ?

System Update

The first proposal, was for in-walls all around for 5.1 surround
The second proposal, was for in-walls(l-c-r) and ceiling speakers(rear/side) for 7.1 surround

The estimated cost for each system was around $15,500. This included components/install/configuration.
