Bare wire vs with connectors

Does anybody can tell how different when connecting speaker cable to amp without connector and without it, leaving bare wire. How much this will affect the sound quality, what kind of connector is better to use

Thanks a lot

There's no audiable difference between bare wire and connectors.

Connectors are merely for convenience sake. Ever try to connect bare wires to the back of a modern HT receiver? I personally prefer bananas.

Connectors better for me

I used to use bar wires on my surround speakers, but when I tightened the posts, some of the strands would break. Perhaps I was tightening things too much, but I never was really happy with that type of connection. Bananas or spades work much better for me...I like the cleaner look and connection.

apart from ease of use, connectors help protect the wire from corrotion/deposits, accidental shorts and loose strands (can cause shorts) plus more secure connection and ease of plug-in/plug out

I don't know if there is much of any detectable loss in audio quality. There sure as hell is a detectable gain in convenience though.

I'm using banana plugs on all my speaker connections where possible - about 80 so far.
