Hey guys

One more question,

When buying banana plugs what should I be looking for. Are solder or screw on plugs better? With good speaker wire, will solder be bad for best possible quality?

Obviously not the plastic shitty ones.

Tips appreciated :)

This question has already been answered for you in another thread, by pointing you to another previous thread, so I'm confused about why you're asking it again. I found your other thread with the search function, and a long list of other threads about banana plugs came up, so I'd suggest you use the search function too.

Yes the question ' the advantage of banana plugs' has been answered.

However, now I have decided to get some, I would like to know if quality wise its best to solder or just used closed screw tops?

I just read over the thread again and this is definitely not answered.

Thank you all the same (just trying to learn as much as I can)

I'm quite satisfied with "shitty plastic plugs". They work as well as the botique ones.

And, yes, It's about time you became acquainted with the search function. Virtually all of your questions have been answered literally hundreds of times before.

By simply asking question after question without even bothering to do any research, you've lost any ability to think, and you're clogging the forum.

Yes that is fair enough, but I do now generally research first now. As I said the specifics were not answered in that thread. So for the third time, is there any advantage or disadvantage to soldering quality wise? Other than strength

It's interesting the your content with the plastic ones. I guess I assumed for very nice setups with 1000s of dollars of cable, the gold plated ones may have been preferable? I guess you won't here a difference with sOmething that small.

Banana plugs are mostly about convenience. They add another resistance to the electrical circuit, but if done properly, that resistance is insignificant. I use screw on plugs, and I've been happy with them for years. Soldering is more effort, and I'm all about the easy. :)

One way to think about it is this way - very few (if any) people would solder bare wire to their speaker terminals, but rather use spring terminals or screw-down binding posts. Using screw on banana plugs is just like that, IMO.

Don't worry to much about asking the same question twice or cross-posting, if we were so busy that we didn't have time to jack with you then we likely wouldn't be on a forum answering questions...

I use GLS locking banana plugs, they have two set screws into the wire. That being said, they are a little bulky and difficult to use at the AVR level where I have a million other wires so I use something else at the AVR.
GLS Audio Banana Plug Speaker Connectors - Locking Series Generation 4- 10 Pack

As much as we all hate MC, I love their simple little plugs for the AVR. They screw on tight, mushroom the wire and I could pick up my AVR by the speaker cable and sling it around if I wanted to.

Thank you all for your help! Definitely will get some banana plugs. Thinking closed top screw on or the double screw you suggested may be best to avoid solder :).

Thanks guys, very much appreciated

I bought banana plugs, and have no regrets here. Keeps the connections on the back of the receiver nice and clean!
