You never hear to much about this brand in these forums. My friend just spent 50,000 on a system and I have to say it is incredible. Apparently Panasonic makes the plasma for B and O, but I have to say it has the best picture I have seen on any TV, Plasma or Projector. The 42" does cost 13,000 however. Any of you consider the B and O Plasma? got any opinions about the other products they make?

I've got an old B&O turntable. It works great. It's really stylish, but all my gear is hidden so no one sees it anyway.

Their stuff can sound really good. It is very stylish, good or bad depends on your personal tastes. It's also really expensive. Great for millionaires, movie stars, and rock stars.

For starters, it's Bang and Olufsen. Secondly, it's awesome stuff. It's made for great sound with ultra-high style and WAF. A friend of mine (who is much older, mind you) has a total B&O stereo system. It's all wall mounted and looks really cool. B&O has the tendency to make you go "Wow" with the sound, then "coooooooooool" when you play with the nifty features on the hardware.

Despite the prices, they don't sell snake oil. Not a drop. That really makes me like the company, even if I'll never own their stuff.

right..sorry my mistake about the name. I agree..it sounds great and the two TVs I have seen are near perfect. Its a shame more audio companies dont follow their lead with regards to design. Dont get me wrong, Denon and Rotel etc make great stuff, but they have 0 design as for as looks go.

Denon & Rotel aren't close to the same league in price either ;) I've seen B&O's plasma, and it does produce a terrific picture. They may use Panasonic glass, but the electronics are not the same.......then again, there's a substantial difference in cost. Their stuff is a lot like Runco....not for the feint of heart. (or wallet)

I have always drooled on their stuff - embarassing! But I think that you can do better sound and picture for less money. You will definitely have to give up the style and interface, though. I agree that the other brands could learn to dumb down their interfaces a bit. I kind of think B&O is like Apple. Make it great, make it simple, charge a premium.

Now this may have changed in recent years, but in the past B&O used proprietary multi-pin connectors to interface their gear, pretty much closing off the option of using one of their pieces with gear from anyone else. Hopefully they have backed away from that position.

B&O Equipment is Good Stuff - Buy on for life...

I'm new here... I've been looking for something like this...

I presently have 2 B&O systems. My first system 4400 I bought way back in 1977. The speakers and componets still work great. I also have the 9300 system with Penta speakers in front and 6000's for the back. It's connected to the B&O AV7000 surround sound which I present use for the TV.

The comment concerning their "original" plugs has been a stickler though one could always get adapters - by B&O of course - to use other componets. The hard part was using other speakers which is especially true with their newer equipment. The reasons are caused by B&O's engineering presupps - that their equipment communicates to each other. So, if you have their system, one only needs to purchase additional speakers for the bedroom or wherever - and you'd have access to the entire system - even if it's in the living rm. Expensive - well - yes & no - up front $$$ yes - but after owning a system for many years - I can tell you it could easily be your last. My 4400 system is approaching 30 years old. It's been played hard and long. I never even owned a TV for years so music was playing in my home almost 24 hours a day - everyday. The system has never given me a hiccup. I originally purchased a 4000 system. The reciever had a glitch - they sent me a brand new 4400 - no questions asked and apologized for the inconvenience - even though it was a $350 difference. The service manager said, it should have never had a problem.

Just food for thought - it's well worth the investment. I don't use it for my music too much anymore. I have a different system for that - but it's still used for TV, Movies, etc... I'll be looking to upgrade in the near future - which means the B&O system will go to our bedroom.
