Banana Plugs for C-5's?

I'm confused. Are Energy C-5 speakers unable to accept banana plugs? When I try to insert them there's a rubber piece which prevents the plug form inserting properly. I must be missing something.

Did you try prying it out or unscrewing the top of the post and removing them? Many speakers come with some sort of cap inside.

If the speakers are of European descent then they are required to have a small plastic plug inserted into the hole where the banana plugs would go. All you have to do is pry them out with your fingernail or something.
