Banana plug concerns

I'm working up a few sets of speaker wires with Banana Plugs
like these
Solder type. Since the whole plug is metal and would be conductive, what concerns should I have of something falling onto the plugs (or getting pulled out from another socket) and shorting out the amp?

I could use shrink wrap or electrical tape to insulate I guess. The wires (or any of the back of the AMp or components are seen as they are all in a HT wall unit so appearance is not a factor. Am I being overly concerned ?

I have always used spades or just bare wire to the binding post so this is a first time for me with Banana plugs.

Also has anyone ever experienced damage to your speaker binding post due to a Banana plug and wire assembly being knocked from a foreign object (lets say a Broom or mop) The hired help likes to keep the dust bunnies from the back of my floor standing towers since they sit out a ways.

At least with my connections, the banana plugs are maintained at a safe distance from each other when they are connected (to the speakers or amp). It's generally a nice secure connection, so there's little chance of them coming in contact with each other. So, I think that they are less prone to causing a short than using bare speaker wire. I wouldn't worry about them if I were you. When they aren't connected (so, just loose speaker wires), they should be handled just like bare wire.

I haven't put heat shrink on all of my banana plugs, but probably half of them I've put heat shrink on just in case of such an event, maybe I'm being too careful, but hey we've spent how much money on our systems? What's a few dollars more for a bunch of heat shrink tubing?

I've never had an issue. I've used banana plugs on many systems.

You'll be fine. Banana plugs don't break anything... stupid people using banana plugs do. Give your cleaning lady a swiffer duster or clean it yourself.

I've been using ones similar to that for years and never had an issue with them either, though that same thought has crossed my mind (I always thought it was odd that they did that). Just make sure you gear is off if you disconnect the speakers and there should be no worries.
