baluns or run speaker wire

i need to get audio signal to 2 rear speakers in living room.
the receiver is on the other side of the apartment.

would it be better to just cut holes and run speaker wire through the house or utilize the cat6 line that is already at the receiver and terminates at speaker location.

would using baluns degrade the quality of the signal, also would i need rear speakers with built in amps or amplified baluns?

Just use awg14 or 12 cable and you'll be fine

As far as I know in order to use the baluns you would have to also have an amp at the rear location. You would use the balun out of the preouts on the receiver and then on the other end use the balun to plug into an amp and then to the speakers.

I've never seen a balun with a speaker connection. Most look similar to this one: LINK

The only remotely possible rationale I could see for this confusing balun statement is matching transformers for a 70 volt line system, but even they are not called baluns.

Video and data, yes, but never for a speaker signal.
