Greetings all,
Been reading this site for many years, that's why I got RBH 1266 speakers and a Yamaha RX-V4600 about 6 or 7 years ago.
Lately the HMDI (all two inputs and one output!) have not been working on my RX-v4600 receiver. Sometimes I get video from the input to the output, but no sound, other times I get nothing at all, no sound OR video. I tried several cables and plugging and unplugging them many times. Sometimes the red "HDMI" on the receiver panel would blink. Other times, nothing on the display. Once I got it to show solid red "HDMI," but none of the digital audio indicators came on (PCM, Dolby Dig, etc.).
So I have to use the optical SPDIF inputs for now.
I've tried every setting in the config menu, the audio out settings on my cable box and Xbox. I got it to work with video and sound last weekend when I was hooking up new xbox, but when kids came home next afternoon, there was no sound again....they didn't touch anything other than power.
It works fine with the optical inputs, but since it only has two HDMI inputs, I need to use an HDMI splitter/selector, and have to switch optical plugs if I want good sound from the switched sources (as opposed to analog).
Anyone else with this issue? I tried unplugging power for a while, but no dice...
Bad HDMI chips? This thing runs pretty hot, even with fan setting on 100% of the time. Actually I think the fan is all blocked up with dust and doesn't run anymore. I took the case apart, but it's a serious pain in the a$$ to get the fan out, and I didn't do it. Just blew out dust with air compressor.
If this unit only lasts 6 or 7 years before problems, I am disappointed....
Is it time for a new A3010???
Thanks Guys!
Scott
