Back drop color recommendations, behind TV

Hey, quick question I wanted to get some feedback on. I have a dedicated media room, 13'x16' bedroom. I'm thinking of hanging some heavy chenille curtains behind the TV. I do have a backlight on the TV, and there are dark brown curtains to the right of the seating area over a window. What color would be best for behind the tv- light or dark? Originally I was thinking of going with a gold or light tan, but then I thought maybe dark brown would be better as darker would possibly disappear better? Currently the walls is just painted light tan.

I'd rather not deal with buying, opening, hanging, then repackaging and going back to the store if I don't have to, and I wasn't sure if there are any rules of thumb to follow. I thought dark curtains behind the tv might be too much if that is what's over the window too, so if dark behind the tv is better I might put the lighter color over the window. Let me know if anyone has any thoughts or experience with this...
Thanks for any input anyone has...

I painted the wall satin black behind all of my AV equipment.
It really helps to draw attention to the Screen and all the cool LEDs on the components when the lights are dimmed or off.

I went satin black behind my flat panel too. It makes it look like the picture is coming out of the wall......dark brown would work as well. Rustoleum's Leather Brown is a good choice....
