I have a pair of B&W 805 diamonds and I want add a sub...or two.

It's primarily for music listening, not home theater. The room is about 15 X 20, hardwood floors...a poor environment but, it is what it is until I move.

I'm think about either 1 or 2 B&W PV1D's or, 2 ASW-10CM and, since those are what my dealer will give me a good deal on, they're my only choices.

I'm leaning towards 2 PV1D's for the DSP help, given the poor room.

I would appreciate any thoughts...

Why are those your only choices? Aren't there other dealers? What about ordering over the internet?

Budget Please. Those PV1's are nothing to shake a stick at. More of a, hit it with a stick. A few brands make some really nice looking subwoofers that can match the style of the B&Ws for probably the same or less money (Depending on this "deal" you speak of). Room shape and volume is really the largest factor when placing subs, the fact it's hardwood is more of a speaker concern.

I have a barter arrangement where for $1,500 out of pocket, I can either get 2 PV1D's or, 2 ASW-10CM subs...no other models. So, I think the deal is good enough to limit my choices to those models.

Those B&W subs are much more about style than performance. If you can compromise on style, dual HSU VTF-15Hs will provide substantially more performance and are nearly the same price. I would think even a single VTF-15H would provide more performance. They won't look as good, but there will likely be no comparison in bass response at 30Hz.

Why not go with a a pair of SVS sealed 12" subs. Dual-SB12-NSD / $1,149.00 (shipped and no tax) - These have been highly recommended and especially if you want to focus on music they should be a deal at that price. I would love to have these in my 3.1 system down the road.

In that side room I would definitely spring for duals, and 12 inch cones. SVS SB-12NSD would be a great choice. If you want a bit more output and depth I'd go for a pair of PB-12NSD's. Other then SVS, a couple VTF-2 MK4's would work lovely too. Lots of great choices around that budge for that size room.

Right now the Outlaw Audio LFM-1 EXs are $599 shipped, but that sale only lasts till the 4th. That is some major bang for the buck. Alternatively, you could get two Hsu VTF3s for $1500. That will have similar output, but more tuning options, deeper bass, and likely higher sound quality. Those would walk all over the B&W subs all day long.
