Anyone like the B&W P7? Is it worth the premium price?

Are you looking them for portable use or for usage at home? Do you need closed design or are you open for open design as well? Do you plan to use them for long periods? What you find important on headphones and what is your budget?

edit: Do you have amp to go with? Or you need ampless solution?

Probably for home but sometimes on the go. I would be using with my iphone and would not use an amp. I don't mind paying $400 if it is worth it, but many reviews have stated although they sound great, may be overpriced. I like a little bass emphasis, but not like the beats. Overall just looking for a nice clean sound with a little bass kick.

It seems the Sennhiser Momentums are the main competition. I have listened to them but I can't find anyplace to listen to the P7's. I would pay more for the p7s if they sounded more dynamic.

I myself don't recommend on-ear as they are not really comfort to wear for longer periods. Momentums sound compared to Sennheiser HD600 for example doesn't justify the price to be honest. But HD600 is openback and pretty much requires amp to get best out of them so it is not the best portable option out there.

I myself would look for Beyerdynamic DT 770/880/990 32 Ohm versions for your needs and budget. 770 being closed and that suits portable use best, 880 being semiopen and 990 being open. Closed back having best sound isolation and open back having best sound quality, at least in my opinion. It would be best if you could go to some local store to test them out yourself and see how you like them. I haven't personally heard those P7 so cant say a thing about them, but for me they look like they aren't really comfortable to wear for longer periods.

I'm no headphone expert, but I just got the P7 and love them. I have nothing else to compare them to. You can see my audio equipment in my signature. Compared to that, I really like these headphones. I plan on using them with my Note 4 on my trips, with my Macbook Air, and sometimes connected to my C2500. Mind you, I got them for free with points from a credit card. Knowing then what I know now, I would pay the $400 for them if I had to.
