Can anyone tell me the difference between a B&K 507 and a 507 series2? Theres no info on there web site.
Plug n Play technology, as well as upgradability. They are trying to "future-proof" this one. Pretty impressive unit. Class A pre-driver inputs. Wow. Probably one of the best units you can buy under $3000. I'd have to compare it to Denon's new 4806 as it's in the same price range. It's hard to tell, but does it have HDMI connections?BARK said:Can anyone tell me the difference between a B&K 507 and a 507 series2? Theres no info on there web site.
I did see a few 507 S2's, but they are $2500+. If they don't come with a warranty, then I'd run from that company. Hard to believe there's no HDMI connections on a "future proof" unit. Have you considered the US built AVR7300? For the price, it's hard to beat.BARK said:I downloaded the 507/2 manual, there is not an HDMI port to be seen![]()
1 rs-232 and a spot marked "expansion". I Was on e-bay looking at receivers, there are a few 507's not 507/2's. I e-mailed a place called listenup audio video about a 507 they are
claiming full warranty/authorized dealer, even over the net, They claim it's true, but I called B&K today and they told me anything purchased over the net gets no warranty, even when it's coming from a authorized dealer. Not sure what to think about listenup. Oh well I will keep looking for now.
You can buy a 507 on ebay for $1500, the S2 upgrade will come from B&K this fall that essentially you will have the same unit, just a few sound tweaks and options. Remember, future proof doesn't mean free either. There is a open port available on the back for HDMI, but probably would require a reship, is everyone going to buy all new equipment to have HDMI plugs? Not me, I don't think your going to hear or see any big difference. Then your BlueRay DVD will require another new plug, all new equipment again? To me, B&K is the Marantz of the late 60's early 70's. You get service not equaled by any company. USA high quality. Products are easily comparable to other brands and Denon, Rotel and Anthem are there, but try to get a some Tech's on the phone about some of this other equipment? Sony is a disgrace to the ES line and should drop it their service and support is so poor. You can get a $300 Sony Receiver from Best Buy and get the same service.Buckeyefan 1 said:I did see a few 507 S2's, but they are $2500+. Really? That's quite a find. Post one next time it comes up in the "deals" section. You can buy a 507 on ebay for $1500.
I can't speak for Rotel or Anthem, but Denon is extremely accessible via their 800#. Their tech service is outstanding. As far repairing third party or out of warranty equipment, sounds almost too good to be true. I researched the 507 in depth before going with Denon's 3805. The 507 is a beautiful unit, but you definitely pay a price for beauty. I've never seen one anywhere near $1500, but they may have come down since the series II is now out. At the time of comparison (~9 months ago), the Denon 5803 was "street" priced about the same as the 507, and IMO blew the 507's drawers off. The 5803 is selling for $2159, and I haven't seen a 507 for less.Products are easily comparable to other brands and Denon, Rotel and Anthem are there, but try to get a some Tech's on the phone about some of this other equipment?
