I am looking for help on deciding between the B&K AVR507 and Denon 5803. I plan on coupling these with Sonus Faber Grand Piano’s and a REL Stadium sub and Sonus Faber center and rears. I plan on using this for 2 channel, SACD and home theater. The guys at Tweeter recommend the B&K over the Denon but I cannot find any reviews on the B&K AVR507. Initial impressions are that the B&K runs hot and there is a clicking sound when you switch between modes. Does any one have any experiences with the B&K AVR507, thoughts, directions etc. Any help is appreciated and indications if any one of these is outright better than the other. Thanks!

AVR507 vs Denon5803

I have both of these in the same rack in my showroom. I prefer the AVR507, hands down. Yes, it does run hot, but it is because the AVR507 is a non-current limiting amplifier. It delivers much more power then the denon when running a 5.1 or 7.1 system. It also does click kinda loudly when switching sources. It makes it easy to tell when sources are switched without looking.

Where did you get info about the Denon AVR-4803 being current limiting? Other publications that did all channels driven tests showed the 5803 did infact deliver more power than even the AVR507. Note I am not saying more is better or one sounds better than the other, just curious about your statement.

AVR507 vs Denon5803

I am not sure either way if the 5803 is current limited. I do know for sure that the B&K is 100% non-current limited. B&K uses mosfet power amplification, and the should be some reviews on the Motorla 560367 Dsp processor which is the B&K's strength of sound quality. In running the AVR507 and the Denon5803 on the same set of Speakers [Paradigm Reference Studio 100's (front) CC-570 (center) ADP-470's (surround) and Studio 20's] in a 7.1 configuration, the sound quality and power handling was much cleaner and crisper on the AVR507. it could be a preference to how i like sound, but side by side, i was disappointed in the denon 5803. also if your willing to shell out the money for denon 5803 ($4300 suggested retail), the reference 50/ 200.7 ($5300 suggested retail) may be of interest. the AVR507 ($3000 suggested retail) seems like a better value. try to find a CE dealer and listen to them on same speakers, they will gladly demo it for you if they carry both brands...
