Newbie here. I'm pretty sure I'm picking up Def. Tech. 7001's with their 3000c/l/r and BPVX rears. I ordered an Onkyo TX-NR-901, however, I heard the B&K today and was quite impressed.

It obviously cost more, but I was already thinking of sedning back the Onkyo (unopened) for a flagship Yamaha or Denon.

Any thing to worry about with the B&K? Anyone ever match it with Def. Techs? Do you think it will adequately power an 16x20 home office space?

B&K AVR-507

Sleestack,

Last spring I a/b/c compared the B&K receiver to the then top of the line Yamaha and Denon AV receivers, and I thought it blew them away on sound quality. I have it powering Paradigm Studio Reference Monitors - 100s, cc-470, adp-470s, with an HSU TN1220 and HSU Sub Amp, all in a very open 17x22' room. It absolutely rocks the room, cleanly, with power to spare. I highly recommend the unit.

My only issue with the B&K is the low S/N ratio. But, they still sound awesome, so go with what you want.

Ordered a black B&K 507 S2 today. Can't wait for it to get here. I also paid for the Definitive Techs (7001s, 3000 CLR and BPVX) and expect them this weekend. I'll post my impressions when they are all hooked up. Thanks for the input.

Bought this reciever 3 weeks ago. Sounds great with my Polk LSi 15 towers. Saying that I called them today to find out about the upcoming upgrades for DD++ and DTS+. They didn't have a clue if they would upgrade, have to wait until fall if it's supported

I'm debating whether to return it and go with the Integra DT10.5 or the equivalant Onkyo. They seem to very uprgradable. )
