Axiom vs. RBH Speakers

I am in need of a new set of speakers for HT 7.1 and Music that will be powered by an Outlaw 990/7700 system. Lots of people are talking about these two companies as great performance/value rating.

My system will be a sat/sub setup with a fairly large room (16x25). I am looking for the system to really be amazing, any comments?

Interested here also, but I'm also considering Energy RC70's.
Building a new house, and the "great room" where my equipment will be is an open floor plan, about 16x20 with a pretty high vaulted ceiling.

How much are you willing to pay for amazing and what characteristics does amazing equate to for you? For starters, with a room that size you will probably need two large subs for good LFE response.

Are these still in-walls or in-room? If so, which RBH line are you considering? You might also look at Triad.

I'll recommend you 2 systems, both from PSB that Axiom won't be able to touch by along shot but they are more expensive. They also have no problems filling a room that size, even though they are bookshelves.

http://www.psbspeakers.com/product.php?pId=9&sId=2 Moderately expensive but requires a meaty amp which you have.

http://www.psbspeakers.com/product.php?pId=6&sId=1 Their top of the line and fairly expensive.

If you have a PSB dealer nearby, I suggest you audition them.

$5,000 - $7,500 for the speakers if necessary. Axiom sounds like a value with such great results. the amp will be an Outlaw 770 which is a 7 x 200 all channels powered.

For that money, you should also consider Swan and AV123 Rocket towers. You'll want an SVS or HSU sub with that setup.

Some systems to consider:

throw in an Axiom EP500 or two and you've got one heck of a system that sounds as good as it looks.

also check out this system which is a bit more forward sounding, not as smooth or refined but very dynamic!

As for the Outlaw being All Channels Driven to 200wpc x 7, its pure nonsense but still a good amp for the price.

I've read tons of reviews mentioning that speaker A to Z is a refined speaker, but I've never actually heard a description of what that really means. So, for the unknowing, such as myself, let's have a discussion about that. What does that mean?

It can mean anything depending on the who posted it. To me it's means the range of sound merges together seamlessly from the lowest frequencies to a soft high. That being said, someone else could listen to the same speaker I deem refined and think "how could anyone stand that bloated mid-range?" You get the idea.

Ok, I think I'm starting to understand this. A refined speaker is one of those boring, laid back speakers I chose not to buy since they sounded blah-h-h! It's the old dead sound syndrome rebadged as refined. ;) ;)

How do buy RBH SPEAKERS

I know it may sound like a dumb question, but how do you buy RBH speakers. You can't buy them directly, and they DON'T list dealers at their website, leaving my clueless as how costly they are and where to get the best deal

Odd, I just took a quick peek at their site and noticed the same thing. Save you the effort, a quick cut and paste since I was there anyway.

If you call RBH they will give you the contact info for nearby dealers. You can also occasionally find them on Audiogon et al.

...Not to hijack the thread, but might this be the same Richard Berg from the Domain of Caesar (if you are, you'll know to which domain I refer ;) )?
