<font color='#000000'>DMoss,
I too carefully considered the Axioms vs the Paradigm Studio Reference V3 Series. Although I was very impressed with the Axioms for the money, I felt that they were lacking in midbass and low bass - perhaps that's because they are such bright sounding speakers. Even after an extensive listening session at an Axiom owners' house, (set up by Axiom via their website) with a very nice system consisting of M60s, QS-8s, a VP 150 and large SVS subwoofer, I came away feeling that the Paradigms still sound better - more balanced and natural, if you will. I had not been able to get any Paradigm dealer to come off from list price, but once I waived a cash deal in front of them for an entire system consisting of the Studio 100s, cc-470 and adp 470s, they discounted the price for a cash and carry deal, to the point where the pricing was 50% greater than a comparable Axiom system of M80s, QS-8s and VP 150. When the price point became only 50% greater (compared to a 100% difference for list price to list price, it was a no brainer - I wanted what I believed to be the better speaker. BTW, I paired them with a HSU TN-1220 Sub. I think it sounds excellent.
I tell you this recent story to echo the sentiments of many of the contributors to this site - go to your local dealer and give them a chance to improve their pricing to you. Once you tell them what you want to do and how you intend to do accomplish your goal, many of them will work with you. If you can't get the Paradigm dealer to work with you, I would think it safe to assume that the Axioms are always a good back up plan. Also, if you are in a tight money squeeze, Axiom's factory outlet sales plan seems to get rave reviews from their forum members....
Good luck, and let us know of your results....
