still finding new speakers that sound like a good deal. I was thinking between the axiom and the monitor audio but these rockets seem to be a good speaker. Can you guys tell me the different between the axiom and the rockets. I will be using a denon 3805 reciever. Using these mosty for home theater use. Probably going to for sure use the axiom qs8's for the surround just not sure on the fronts and center. Although the rockets center is huge.

I'm impartial to the axioms! Mainly because the price means right to your door, no other hidden costs. The rockets I've heard may have better extension @ lower frequencies but for home theather that dosen't matter because you'll have a sub. In a 2 chennel setup I'd say Rockets for home theater axiom. Either way you can't go wrong!!;)
PS: If your looking at the rocket rs760 then look at the axiom m 80v2 and not the m 60v2 ?

I just got a set of 760s and bigfoot with the trade in deal.

Guess which I would reccommend?

Right now there is a set of 760s at av123 that were used for photo shoots for $999, 500 off the normal price and 300 of family pricing.

Shipping to my door was $237 for the 2 760s and RSC200 but Yellow was late so they are refunding me.

The speaker trade in deal is going on until the end of the month.

That being said I have not heard axioms, but when I worked it out, to get real wood finish like the rockets the axioms were going to cost over 700 more and that included the shipping.

Bigfoot may be huge, but it sounds huge too, most amazing center I have ever heard. If you have room for it, go for it, it puts the system way over the top.

Here is the septembers specials link:
http://av123forum.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15784

To give you a quick impression of my 760s:

Smooth, not harsh, unbelievable with music, go deep with ease (around 40hz), get loud without fatigue.

Bigfoot:

Huge, gentle, can reproduce horse hooves!!, never draws attention to itself (unless the lights on), perfect match.

Ok I will agree with you not having heard the rockets lots of accolades. I myself am in the market for a new center and floors.:D

However I must disagree with you on the cost factor. Just checked both sites and here is what I found. List prices 2 rocket rs 760 @ $1499 and 1 rsc 200 @ $599, 2 axiom m 80v2 @ $1300 and 1 vp150 $400 upgrade to rosewood @ 15%. How are the rockets 700 less:confused: which include a delivery charge.

sounds like we got some disputing on here. lol. The look for me is not the number one thing. I have to have the good sound. Although the look of the rockets seem to be alot better. And with the discounts right now about the same price as the axioms. Just since they are both internet company's hard to tell what they would both sound like without buying them and sending the other one back.

Since i am going for mostly home theater. Think the rockets might be a bit of over kill since they seem to reproduce alot of the bass more than the m60's would. But with the home theater you pretty much need the subwoofer. At least i think i am right anyways. Thats why i was thinking the m60's instead of the m80's. Plus the 80's are only 4 ohms and would tax my reciever a bit more. But heck i don't know much anyways. I havn't had any decent speakers in a long time. Still have my old bose set i bought like 10 yrs ago. hell anything would probably sound better.

I believe the reference to the Rockets being $700 cheaper was when you moved to a wood finish on the Axioms (which is extra). You are correct that with the vinyl finish, the Axioms are cheaper. No disagreement folks, just some confusion!

Yup, that is what I meant, the Axioms with the same finish as the rockets were 700 more.

Dont forget if you buy the $1499 760s and $499 RSC200 together it becomes the $1299 760s and $499 RSC200!!

That 15% is on top of the 400 premium you pay for wood. A set of M80s in rosewood are $2024 Center comes to $632.

Complete 3 speaker deal $2656 delivered
Rocket upgrade deal $1897 delivered

Now, if you throw in 2 extra speakers at axiom they give you a deal, 2 QS8 in rosewood $793 with a $152 discount.

RS300 $599 a pair regular price (dont know what family pricing is, never inquired)

Again, if the finish does not matter to you the axioms are certainly cheaper and probably on par with the rockets, again dont know.

I did like the grill color choices for the axioms and was actually leaning that way until the trade in deal came about.

PS Pictures do NOT do the finish on the rockets justice, nor do they convey the size and girth of bigfoot properly.

PPS AV123 is having a pretty killer deal on the X-series this month as well, complete 5.1 systems from $799 and certainly a system that will not disappoint, I have one coming for my livingroom system and I am sure Pianoman can tell you all about em.

just to throw it out there, You can currently get High gloss cherry axioms at regular price. I have owned the standard boston cherry and now own the high gloss cherry. Mucho upgrade IMO. I actually had to get out a flashlight and look very cosely at the grain to determine it being a vinly finish. The rockets are very nice speakers, no doubt and I think have better made cabinets (look at the weight difference) But the axioms are quite good too.

Having heard neither the axiom line or the rocket line, I cannot comment on their differences. I think that both Axiom, Rocket, and the Monitor Audios you are considering are fine choices; all have been recognized as amazing speakers-look at the Stereophile review for Monitor Audio RS 6- and would give you immense pleasure whichever you chose.

From personal experience, I can tell you that I am astounded at the level of sound quality the Rocket gang has given me with the Onix X-Series. As you can see in my sig, I own a full X-LS monitor setup. The same person designed the crossover network, etc... in the Rockets as in the X-Series. I cannot imagine it getting much better than this, but people say it will. When I have a house one day, I intend to get a Rocket 850 HT setup. Stupendous!!

This is what is glorious about this hobby. There are so many good choices. At some point, you have to sit back and order some speakers and listen. It all comes down to what you like better!!

let us know any more ways we can help:)
