Newbie here, but mid-level knowledge of speakers, and Paradigm fanboy.
Here's the quandry: Getting new LCD, new reciever (Onkyo 875) and have an odd family room where this is all going. Unfortunately the room is 12X19X10 (roughly 2200 cu/ft) with an angled ceiling and a fireplace dead center on the wall where the tv is going to go. I have yet to find a decent matching pair of cc to mains, until I ran into Axiom. The VP150cc is a good depth for mounting on the fireplace (won't stick out much as it's 7.5" deep) as don't want to have a huge mantle on the fireplace for a cc.
Now I currently run Paradigm Legends (powered sub in each), Intergra DTR-7, CC150, ADP150. They are all going and I heard the Reference S2's. Those sounded amazing, but the C1 is small, and about 9" deep. I just saw Paradigm getting ready to release the W5 cc, but it's $3K and the WAF is low, due to a $12K sound system, let alone the $5K I'm about to dump on the LCD and 875.
Questions:
1. How is the Axiom M60 / Vp150 / EP500 / QS8?
2. I have heard the S2's, amazing. How do they handle loud music? For the size room, is the S2 and C1 a good fit?
3. What other wall/fireplace mountable cc's that are good that can be packaged in a system for $5K (whether it's mated with towers or bookshelfs for the fronts, and dipoles for the rear, with sub)?
I currently run 50% music, 30% HD DTV, 20% DVD. I love all kinds of music, but mostly metal, jazz, and pop (Sting, etc.)
Thanks for the advice in advance, I look forward to helping contribute to the forum.
