looks like the 20hz tune is the $h!t!

this sucks though ... they're 220v in Europe. where are my freakin subs!?

I think Ron Stimpson has me in his spam blocker (where he puts stalkers)
he's been ignoring my emails lately.

Hey, mike. I got a PC-Ultra that has similar published responses. So far, I've tried the normal 20Hz tune and the 15Hz tune, and the 15Hz gives me a flatter response. I have some room gain in the 20-30Hz region, and using the 15Hz tune and small room compensation setting, I get a pretty flat response down through those frequencies.

Just thought that I'd throw that out there for those of you experimenting in your rooms that might not have measured the responses, yet.

Absolute superb measured performance.

Velodyne DD-12 and DD-15 look like toys compared to this unit.

Like Adam said, if corner loaded, you get massive room gain...my room's not small, but setting it to small was the only way I could put a clamp on room gain. This is what I'm listening to now blended with my mains running large...sounds pretty darn good...

I'll second that. One word would describe this sub: impressive. It has a little more tactile response than my 15" and does it effortlessly. It is very at home with music and really sounds amazing overall.

I'll keep my 1124 thank you. The SMS is a great tool but has significant roll off below 20hz. Those wanting to tune for 15hz would be wise to look elsewhere for their eq'ing needs.

FYI, there will be an SMS-1 update before september ends that removes the roll off. :)

unless you plan on getting a lower tuned sub (or this PB13), your plus/2 would not be hampered by the sms-1 with or without the update, since SVS does not recommend tuning it to 16hz. ;)

I got to the point of practicing REW, but when I read the instructions for the BFD over at the shack ... let's just say, I let my money do the walking. :D

Didn't SMS say the same thing about the first available update?

Where did you read/hear that? I ran my PB12 for quite some time in 16hz mode. The only warning I heard (even though most ignored it), was that you shouldn't tune to 16hz without the recommended port plugs in. Why would they produce a sub with a 16hz limiter setting on it, only to tell the consumer not to use it?

yup, they lowered the subsonic filter that time I think. i don't know why that didn't affect the results. I doubt it's a correction value problem since the DD EQ doesn't have that problem.

i believe ron/ed said in one of his posts that most all the 3 tuning subs shouldn't be plugged to the lowest tune unless you had a really really small room since the driver is going to be doing a LOT of work to produce the lower tunes with ONLY one port open.

I really hope they get it right this time on the removal of the filter on the SMS. I like the tool, and will be building my dual 15" boxes soon, and they will be tuned to 14.5 hz. Id rather not get rid of it... Better yet just adjust the filter to roll off lower or give us the adjustability to put it where we want it...

I would imagine that they don't like all the bad press coming from the DIY world these days.... Especially with everyone really starting to put out LLT subs now...

Curt of Velodyne did say that using one of the sliders down low to boost will counteract the subsonic filter. never tried it myself since my Axiom can only do 18hz anyway.

But at what expense to the FR?
