4810 vs 4310 vs 80.1 SSP.

I want to eventually try 9.1 DSX, so the 80.1 requires a purchase of a simple, inexpensive 2ch amp to drive very easy speakers.

I don't give a rat's *** about video processing. I wasn't referring to your ***, btw.

I want the latest and greatest Audyssey suite. XT is desired, but I may be able to be talked into vanilla MultEQ. Pro capability is gravy, but not a must.

I don't have any need for zones, or satellite radio.

Ease of FW update is a bonus. So is overall implementation of things.

I have one sub, and I don't know if and when I will ever add to that.

Thanks man.

edit: I realize some people don't like being called buddy. Sorry if I offended.

Ok, I've just been informed that the 4310 can only do 7.1. That crosses that off the list.

Hey Bu..ddy! (Pauly Shore voice) Thanx, now that’s in my head!

Sorry it took awhile. I have better things to do with my Friday night!

Yeah, there aren’t too many options to run a 9/11.1 setup. If you have the amps already and only want 9.1, then the Integra 80.1/Onkyo 5507 seems like a good option and appears to be pretty reliable. I don’t know what the Integra goes for, but I remember some AVSer getting the 5507 for under $2K. I do know you should be able get the 4810 for about $2.2K from Electronics Expo.

Well, I just picked batpig's brains via PMs, and he basically said that they scrapped the plans for the above, which would have been based on the 4310. He *guesses* that Denon crapped their pants when they saw Onkyo release a wave of affordable 9ch receivers, and thinks that they decided to wait for a full blown 11ch pre/pro.
This was my take on it as well for the AVP-CIX which is why I’ve made the comment before that the revamped unit may be based around the 4810/5308. If it sees the light of day!
