My router is upstairs and receiver will be downstairs, so I will not
be hardwiring a Cat 5 connection. What type of wireless device can I
use ?

Or do I need to hookup the laptop that is on the network ?

Wireless Bridge

A wireless bridge connected to the receiver should work for your application. You might want to test the wired network connection (by moving the receiver upstairs) to make sure that everything is working before adding the wireless.

Check this thread about the Denon PC interface. It sounds difficult to use and setup.

Have any body successed with the AVR-4306 connect to PC at all? I've been trying and trying but never got it.

My PC is running Windows Media Center SP2, Windows Media Player 11.

If whoever made it works, please show us. Thanks!

I have a Sondigo Sirocco hooked up and am able to stream audio via optical (iTunes and WM player, amen!) but have been unable to connect internet radio via aux/net for unknown reasons. Still trying... stay tuned.

I got this to work......

First, make sure your AVR is truly on the network. If you can download the internet radio station list this is a good sign.

On your XP Machine fire up WMP 11 – Tools options -> Library Tab, Select Configure Sharing

Click settings button under sharing

Share media as : this is the name you want to advertise on the network (i.e. My MP3s)

Make sure music is selected from media types

Select the checkbox Allow new devices and computers automatically (you can lock it down to the Denon later if you wish)

Make sure you have some MP3s in your library

On the Denon change the Aux source to Aux/Net

A screen should come up showing internet radio and favorites. If you havn’t downloaded the internet radio list it may ask you to do so.

Normally this screen should show Network audio with favorites, internet radio, and also should display your PC host where you shared the files. Mine takes about 10 seconds to show up some times. I am using a wreless bridge so mine is a little pokey.

If it doesn’t show up then your Denon is not seeing your XP machine on the network. Try turning off the Windows firewall momentarily on the XP machine and see if that fixes it.

Also, I found out the MP3s in the WMP library must be on the same PC where WMP is running and not on a connected network drive if you have more than one PC and sharing drives.

If all this doesn’t work lemme know. You may have to PM me because the subscription alerts in these forums don’t work for me.

Hope this helps,

Tim
