Avr upgrade

Can anyone tell me if an upgrade from a Denon 4520 to the 8500 would be a solid difference in sound or should I put my money elsewhere?

Well, I would think in terms of the additional speaker possibilities, sure. I have a 4520 and am quite content until such time as I want to drill holes in my ceiling to accommodate such speakers....what setup do you have?

ps maybe an advantage having the Audyssey app too

I'd opine that at this point, "upgrade" would be more for features you simply can't live without rather than for audible improvement
