subwoofer

Since you have that nice sized plasma, I wouldn't want to skimp too much on the sub. An SVS PB10/12-NSD or HSU VTF-2 MK3 should work very well.

Are you using the Bose cubes/bass module system or the larger box type speakers (301, 501, 901)?[/QUOT

I have found a local dealer who will match online prices he does not carry these subwoofers. He does carry B&W do you have a reccomendation for that brand

Pulled the trigger on the Marantz SR6003 and a Velodyne DEQ-R10 all in for 1350 plus the guy threw in the 40' Subwoofer cable. Probably could have gotten it cheaper online but at least now I have a "throat to choke" if something goes wrong. I will move the BOSE to the rear. Any suggestions on new front speakers? Somewhere in the gee whiz range.

Not familiar with the gee whiz range, but that could cover a large spectrum. For the speakers you should either match the Yamaha center or purchase all new for the front three to maintain timbre match.

Gee whiz..............1000$...since I am in this this buying mode which happens every 15 years for stereo equipment I am interested in the B&W FPM6s I know they are not going to give the same sound as floor standing speakers but they sound good enough for me and my wife likes them(always a problem). But before I make a mistake the TV sits on top of the fireplace. On each side of the TV ~8" from each side is a cabinet that extends 16 " past the TV. If I wall mount the FPMs between the TV and these cabinets will I get some ill effect since the speaker will not have a complete clear sot out of where it is mounted?

If I'm understanding you correctly, the TV is recessed from the front of the cabinets and the speakers would be set back in the corners. If so, not good. You really want 180 degrees of free space in front of them.

Problem is that the way the wife has the room layed out there is no place to put any speakers. How about this...........I can bring the FPMs out ot meet the Plasma TV which sticks out about 7"...........I will put the FPMs next to the TV............move the cabinets all the way to the wall..........this will leave me 11 1/2"" from the cabinet and the cabinet will extend 11" past the speaker. I know you said 180 degrees which if the speaker is 7" then I would need 7" on both the right and left sides to make 180 degrees but I am not sure if that is what you meant by that.
