AVR-688 Help

Hello there, I have a Denon-688 receiver and a bose acoustimass 10 series 3 setup. I've had the system working fine when i had it setup in another room, so all speakers are compatible. Anyways, the problem is that when i have the receive set at mono, jazz club, video game, rock arena, all speakers work fine. but when i set the receiver to 5ch/7chstereo , cinema, music dolby PLII...only the centre, right, rear right and sub work...the lefts don't work at all. I tried moving all the wires to zone 2 and still same problem...what would be the problem?

I've done a tone test and all speakers emit a tone.

Does it do this on all sources? If it does it on all sources, then something has gone down in the left channel preamp section of your Denon, and it will have to be serviced.

Also does it do this on digital inputs, and analog ones as well?

Well i've tried one other source and it still does it...when i put red in whit and white in red on the back of the receiver, the lefts work and rights don't...i hope it doesnt need sevice....why do the simulated settings work? tones come out of all speakers...

The problem is in an early stage of the left preamp section, before the stage where the test tones are inserted. It may well be in the logic switching section. Either way this is not a problem you will fix and you have confirmed your unit needs service.
