As someone suggested in another post (quite good): Downtown Audio also (less good) Bradsford Audio
but look here (best) Soundpros and if for mysterious reasons you want to pay more, go to J&R Demon

By the way, I have also found a very good deal
for: AVR-5803A these guys are 28% lower than Crutchfield. I would give then a call because I would bet they they will have 3805 very soon (they have 5803A).
Also you could try to call: Tweeters Denon

Finally, somebody posted that he got his 3805 from good guys but their internet site does not even refer to Denon (but we all know that every good guys some Demons).

Of course if you have read some of my posts, you will know that I have not check if they are authorized dealer:
In Canada, it is better to buy the cheapest possible from US because our prices is so inflated that it is twice more than US once the shipping, taxes and duty are paid.

To verify your authorized dealers (where you can pay more), you will have to go to Denon site for those who want warranty.

Take care

just saw:
Another good deal for 3805
This is also another deal under 1000$ (OK 999$) like SoundPros.

Also remember, this is a new receiver. In two months it should be available below 900$ (899$). In four months, it will no longer best the newest and best deal in town.

You can already get a Pioneer DV-47Ai for 569$ (quite a good deal: DVD-A, SACD and i.link). The issue is inter-company compatibility. You should ask to your Denon dealer if it will accept Pionneer Elite DVD with i.link.

We can expect some players for less that 400$ by the end of the 2004. Moore's law applies to this: the DVD is only electronics...

And same thing for 200$ in 2005. By this time, the new feature will not be i.link but HD-DVD.

There is rumor of a 39xx player to be released sometime this summer at a $1200 price point. Personally, I think if Denon fails to deliver a solid solution with Denonlink at roughly half that price, they are going to have a heck of a lot unhappy owners of 3805 (perhaps better known as "previous Denon owners).

There is still the issue of SACD over Denonlink, as well. While it is technically possible to transfer the data, the SACD spec calls for the exchange of keys and Denonlink is not a bi-directional link (to my knowledge). If this is true, then Sony/Phillips will need to issue a waiver which they have done before if I'm not mistaken.

Regardless of how good Denonlink is, Denon would have been wiser to go with a 1394 solution and invested their engineering resources in other areas (like renaming inputs
). Denonlink was a gamble for the company from my perspective, and that cable could look more like a noose around Denon's neck than it does a digital conduit to the money vault in a few months.

Hopefully, Gene or Clint (or Jeff Talmadge, DenonJeff) can shed some light on this soon.
