AVR 3803 & RC 921 Remote Problem(s)

I cannot get the RC921 remote to go into System Setup mode. When I press the button, 'System Setup' flashes in the display window then immediately reverts back to Amp. It used to go into System Setup mode ok.
Also not able to get sound from TV to come through surround speakers. Cable setup seems correct. It used to work before moving and reconnecting everything. Tuner sound for some surround settings does come through but not for all settings.
Any suggestions as to how to investigate further.

Maybe the receiver is in Pure Direct mode. That turns off the front panel display, and surround speakers.

Thanks Woodie. I will check but I am pretty sure it is not. At various times I punched all the buttons and combinations.
