AVHIFI.com - Anyone used them?

Today, I received my AIM5 One inceiling surrounds from avhifi.com (an authorized Speakercraft dealer online) and although I purchased my speakers new, I received one that was noticably used or returned. Packaging was horrible, screws were slighly stripped and there were dings around the screws as if the person installing used a screwdriver that was to big and it hit the sides of all four screws.

I hooked up the speaker to my easiest accessible line coming from my receiver and it appears to be working fine. At this point, I'm not sure if I should just purchase elsewhere next time or go through the hastle of returning it.

What would you do?

I was originally thinking about saving and buying some b-stocks but got these "new" speakers at a 15% discount. The issue appears to be asthetic, which won't be seen with the grill covers so I don't know what to do. I was really hoping on hooking these up this weekend!!!

I am not familiar with them but anyone who sends you used or returned items and is selling them as new is not someone I would trust. Call them and if they don't offer you an additional discount and an explanation I would get a refund.

I was actually in an email thread with their operations manager about price matching another product. I told him I was waiting for this shipment to be delivered before committing to another, glad I did.

I emailed him and will see what he says. I was looking at placing a $600+ order with him so maybe he will offer a better deal?

I'll see what he says and update everyone here.

Please do...sounds like Tomfoolery to me!
So he replied and said that they keep their used/b-stock in a seperate warehouse and somehow this one ended up with the new equipment. He offered to express ship out a new one or give me b-stock pricing on the one I have.

I'll see what he is going to offer me in form of a credit otherwise, I'll send it back.

Get the new one. You never know what war something has gone through and if it's B stock, it should have been checked out. Stripped plastic for screws isn't worth dealing with. Over time, it's easy for the screw to back out because of vibrations.

Yeah, he offered me a 30% credit/refund but it isn't worth it to me, so I asked for him to ship me a new one and a shipping label to send the other one back. I have never trusted used electronics in the past and am not about to start!
