Got to listen to a pair of these today with a 30 watt or so Mac tube amp and SACD 2 channel....

WOW! I've always been fond of Klipsch stuff but knew that (save Palladium) that they were really on the lower end as far as horns go. I was really happy that I got to sit and listen to the DUO's even if it wasnt for too long. We were supposed to be working. The room may have been a little smaller than ideal, but it was moderately treated and set up nicely. The speakers were set up behind acoustically transparent curtains.

Listened to a variety of stuff, when I get the chance to spend more time in front of them, I'll make better notes of what exactly it was I was listening to.

They play plenty loud and I kept waiting to make that "face" where its just too much and I never did. They were very pleasant. They were by far the most natural and revealing speakers I've ever heard. The imaging blew my freakin mind. I cant even describe it.

Anybody else heard these or something in the Avantgarde lineup?

Were they bright? How was the midrange on them?

They certainly weren't laid back, but the sound didnt seem "colored" like most horns. They might have been a bit bright, but certainly not harsh. I kept waiting for them to "hurt" but they never did. There was one particular track with lots of percussion and the mid range really impressed me. The crossover between the sub and midrange was quite seamless. The transition between the mids and highs though... like nothing I'd ever heard. Very natural. The imaging was still by far the most impressive to me. It was wide, but it was the depth that I had never before experienced...
