AV123 x-sub impulse buy!

I am building up my first home theater system. Finally settled on the Yamaha RX-V659 receiver and the AV123 Onix x-IS pair of bookshelf speakers for starters (after much ready very well convinced of the quality of my choices).

But then when I was buying the speakers through the AV123 website yesterday, all of a sudden just to have it done with on the same shipping order I added the X-sub woofer (200$) they have without hearing opinions about it. Very much an impulse buy.

The question is: Was it a bad choice? Should I look for other companies that make under 250$ sub woofers and return that one? Any comments or links to opinions would be greatly appreciated.

It all matters how big your room is. The sub is one place you cant skimp on as it must be able to pressurize your entire room.

The Onix x-sub and HSU STF-1 are the best subs in the sub $250 category IMO. The Bic H-100 also gets mentioned now and again. Assuming your room isn't too large, the x-sub should do just fine.

I've been very impressed with my X-Sub for the last year, and feel no real need to upgrade yet.

That said, since it's already coming just hook it all up, calibrate, play some movies/music and see if you like it. If you don't, then you should probably return it and look for something else. But, as rnatalli said, you probably won't find anything better for less than $250.

Try it out and just return within the time allotted if you don't like it. If you like it, well, congrats!!!

If all impulse buys were this well informed, there would be no Bose systems out there . Cheers on the purchase.

Thanks a lot for all those positive (hopefully honest hehe) thoughts, now I can relax a bit more. Guess the real test will come after they arrive.
