Av Reciever that goes well with klipsch speakers

I am looking to purchase a new av reciever. I currently have a 6 year old onkyo ts-dx777, that has worked well, but is lacking in new features. I have all klipsch reference series speakers. RF 7 RC 7 RB 75, & RSW 15. I really like the klipsch speakers, but the horn is a little bright at loud volume mostly with music. I was wanting some input on new av recievers in the $1500-$2000 range that would go well with the klipsch setup. I am looking for something with 120 watts or better all channels driven. I listen to more music than anything, but would still like to have the latest in surround . If anyone has any input, or suggestions I would appreciate it.

Since the klipsch speakers are so efficient, I think any receiver in your price range would be a good match. Just find one that has the features you are looking for.

Check out the new Marantz receivers. I just demo'd the SR7500 and SR8500 units. Beautiful looking (absolutely huge faceplate compared to Denon and Yamaha), lots of flexibility, and powerful. I'm not sure when the 7600/8600 models are due - the 5600 is already out.

AV123 Seperates

The soon to be released Ultralite sepaerates from AV123.com would meet your requirments for about $1,100.
Alternately, for $2,000 they are running a promotion on the MPS-1 amp. Buy it with 5-7 channels and you can get the UL pre-amp from $99. That would be 7 channels x 200 Watts @ 8 ohms and an audiophile pre-amp for $2,100.

I too would recommend Marantz. I had a Marantz SR-4200 HT receiver paired with a set of Klipsch Forte speakers a few years back. The two mated very nicely. The Klipsch sound is lively and energetic, but it can sometimes be a tad too foreward and bright. The Marantz house sound is a touch on the warm or "plummy" side. It emphasizes the midrange, without taking anything away from the bass or high end. The two together are very appealing.

I would also recommend Rotel if you like the lively and energetic sound and want even more of it... or the Arcam if you want as neutral a sound as you can get.

Any of these three brands will be high-quality, highly musical, and bring you many years of enjoyment.

yammi 2600 and Klipsch

I have the RF-5 fronts, RC-35 center, RSW-10 sub-woofer.
My old Def Tech BP 6's are in back.

I recently upgraded to a Yamaha RX-V2600 from a well-loved Onkyo TX-SR601 which had 85 watts per channel.

I like the detail of the Klipsch speakers a LOT. I value the musical quality of my system above all and the Yammi has given me a noticable improvement with no 'coloration' to my sound. The extra watts and DACs have put a lot of depth to what was not a bad sound. No harshness, just clean, even output while the detailing is even crisper.

Good luck with your descision.

Alot of people say the horns from klipsch speakers give alot of fatigue over time so I would reccomend Denon/Marantz being that they give off a warm sound. To me at least. Or even the higher end Pioneer Elite.

Either way in that price range im sure youll be happy with whatever you get.

the past theory was that you didn't use a Yamaha with Klipsch speakers. That pretty much went away when room-matching started to be built into the receivers.

Klipsch, probably more than most speakers, really count on having the receiver tuned to match them. That makes it really tough to check them out in most BAM stores, since most stores just plug it in and switchboard it to what ever is set up in the room.

If you have the opportunity for a live demo, ask the tech to re-tune the YPAO for Klipsch speakers.

If you are doing strictly internet ordering, I'd play it safe and skip the Yamahas.

Adding to all the other ideas is don't be afraid to make use of your treble control. Not very high tech but it can be helpful. My speakers (Paradigem Studio 20s) are bright and takeing a little off the treble sounds much better to my ears.

Yup, i am pretty happy with them. I have had them for about 5 years with no serious thoughts of upgrading.

I have RF-7 fronts and RF-5 rears, and am upgrading from a denon 2805 to an anthem avm 30 pre-pro and a krell kav-2250 for my fronts, undecided on what amp I will get for center and rears. I would not recommend the 2805 with klipsch reference speakers. unfortunately most of my recommendations are well outside your price range, but wanted you to be aware of what i have experienced after numerous home demos over the past year with my speakers. while klipsch speakers are known for their efficiency, the more quality power i have provided them the better they have sounded, at any volume. I demoed a rotel stereo pre-pro, rotel's top cd player and a rotel 1080 amp, and with the klipsch horns it was far too bright. cary cinema 6 pre-pro and cinema 5 amp sounded fantastic for music, but I thought the cary pre-pro features were not as good as the anthem avm 20 pre-pro, and the avm-20 sounded better than the cary in virtually any DSP mode for music. krell amps are a good match with klipsch, as is B&K for the price, but the krell was worth the increased cost at least to me. i also demoed a b&k stereo pre-amp and b&k 125.2 amp, which sounded good but not as good as the avm 20 & the krell amp.

i have heard several in store demos of the yamaha 2600 w/ RF-7's and could not really distinquish the sound from the denon 2805, but the listening sessions were fairly short. also recently heard the 1500 msrp pioneer receiver w/ a pair of vienna accoustics bach speakers which sounded incredible, but the store didn't carry klipsch so couldn't compare.

the least bright sound i have heard was either the cary audio gear or the avm 20 & the krell, both of which produced great music with the RF-7 in a direct analog mode, but the avm 20 was better for cable tv & any DSP mode for music.
