Hi,
First timer here.
Living in Sweden, so model numbers may differ!
Torn between PIONEER VSX 1016 v YAMAHA RX 659!
All help, ides & suggestions welcome.

VSX 1016 has HDMI switching, that is about all it has on the Yamaha. Other than that I would think the Yamaha would be the better performer and it has more connections for sources.

Pioneer 1016

I own the Pioneer 1016, and I think it is the best value out there. The sound qaulity is better than the yamaha 5890 I returned for this, IMO. I have a 20x 15 room and it fills it great. No matter how loud I turn it up there is no distortion. I am running two large floorstanding towers, an Infinity beta 360 center (which is huge), and 4 surround sattelites. The video upconversion makes my picture look great from any source. I also got it on sale at best buy for $399, cant beat that. I would definitely recommend it.

I too would go with the Yamaha.
thay will both have good sound quality, but good quality does not meen that you will like how thay sound; I have a Yamaha and a Pioneer, but I pefer the Yamaha, and the oppisit is true of djsHTnut... so, sorry to say it ged mac you'll have to listen to both.
