Heya All,

My first post, but have read these fourms quite abit and you all seem to be awesomly helpfull and know your stuff as well :)

I am in the market for a new receiver. I curently have a sony str-Da4es I like it alot I am just a geek and want a new one :)
I watch 98% movies om my HT SYS. I do not care for DSP and said fetures I 100% of the time listen to the movie in "auto decoding mode"
SO finaly my question what reciever is good? Futhermore would I notice a sonic or visual improvement over the da4es? In the past I bought a denon forget model was aound 1000-1200 nice unit my HUGE gripe with it was the fact that i really got no volume control from -100 - -20db seemed like there was no real differance in over volum until -20 to the point where i could listen to my movies at almost -5 db and that seems to close to clip for my confort!
My speakers are klipsh ref series 4 years old my towers are rf2- II's i blieve is the model # and I have a Moniter center channel!

With what I want from a receiver would upgrading be worth the money spent?
And saddly my TV has a DVI imput only no HDMI :(

Thank in advance for input
Be well ALL

Any opions?
I have searched thes fourms up and down found alot of great info about denon and pioneer elite and yahama, but no mention of sony. With that I assume that well in a nut shell sony is not the reciever of choice... Anyway my question remains.. Would I notice a sonic improvment or visual improvment with a new av reciever. I am leaning towards a yamaha or a poineer elte what one is the qustion 2k max budgit but 1500.00 would work best ;)

For video quality you can connect your TV directly to the source instead of the receiver. For audio if you like your 21 kg or 46 lbs 4ES and don't care for the DSP and features, why not try adding some price amplifiers for the front channels and see if you can hear any improvement. If not, then consider selling the 4ES and buy a Yamaha RX-V2600 or Denon 3806 or an equivalent Pioneer Elite and still keep the amps for the front channels. Good luck.

With "2000K" can't you afford just about anything? Seriously though, for $2k the Denon AVR-4306 is a killer A/V Receiver. Just input everything into the receiver and run a HDMI to DVI cable to your TV. This is how I run my AVR-3806 since I also only have DVI on my TV. As for volume level, with my 3806, volume level -10 is plenty loud for me. I usually listen to it at about -20 to -25. Perhaps when you had a Denon you either had it set up wrong, your speaker sensitivity is too low, or you're just plain ole deaf.
