Prior to starting my YPAO auto setup on my Yammy, it is instructed that I set (on the back of my sub) my subwoofer's level to 40-50% (@11 O'clock) and my subwoofer's crossover to max. After my autosetup is completed and I have my level's, distance, wiring, eq, etc. dialed in...my receiver has set my crossover to 80...as well as my sub's level.

My question: What I do with my sub's level and crossover knobs on the back of the sub AFTER autosetup. Do I not mess with my knobs on the back of my sub anymore? In other words, now that my receiver has crossover set to 80, do I then move the crossover dial on the back of my sub from max down to 80...or should I keep it at max and let the receiver control the crossover level? Do I increase or decrease the level knob on the back of my sub at all either or leave that alone too? Confusing?

Thanx all,

-T

Yes you should leave it alone since those are the settings used when you calibrated. Your x-over on your sub should basically always be set to max if your sub does not have a bypass x-over mode. The volume on the sub is interactive with the receiver setting in that adjusting the sub's level changes the receiver's level, so to adjust it properly, you need to set the sub's level to where it gives you the best sound at the receiver without being -10dB or +10dB.
