Auto-Calibration RX-V663

I have a Yamaha RX-V663 reciever, 1 sub, and once the speakers arrive (NHT Classic 3), the whole 7.1 setup. I just wondered if I use the included "optimizer mic" and use the auto setup mode, if I would achieve optimum results. It says it measures everything needed to make good sound as long as I place the mic on a tripod at listening position. Would this be a good way to calibrate everything or is there a lot more to it?

It's a good starting point. You may need to make a few tweaks after running YPAO however.
Chances are it will tell you your fronts or even your center are "large" speakers. This is seldom the case. Set them back to small.

YPAO also has a tendency to incorrectly read wiring polarity. If it tells you that one of the speakers is out of phase, verify that it is not and ignore the message.

Other than that I've always had good results from YPAO.
