'Authorizing' a Receiver to Play audio files on my PC...help

I have had my Pioneer VSX-94 Reciever for some time now. It is one equipped with a network interface allowing it to be part of my home network and the associated LAN interface known as Home Media Gallery. This setup allows you to play internet radio stations from around the world as well as audio content stored on your PC.
I have a simple wired cat5e network with 2 PCs, an network printer, and the receiver. I am using a very common cisco Linksys 4 port broadband router.

I get good access to the internet radio stations, so I know from a connection standpoint, all is hooked up correctly. But now for the first time I want to start playing music that is stored on my PC. The idea being that when you use the Home Media Gallery menu, your PC/server name should appear with the other options and you should be able to begin selecting files. According to the documentation, some setup on my part, on the PC needs to done. Part of this I believe is 'authorizing' the receiver manually on the PC. I cannot find any information on how to go about doing this and my network skills are rusty. I am using Windows XP. Any idea on how to go about doing this or even where on the PC I should be starting...control panel?, network software?....or what? Thanks!

Notes: The Home Media Gallery is simply the interface that you operate from the reveiver (not the PC). And this interface does not 'see' my PC yet. Again, I am getting my internet access from The Home Media Gallery as I can select from hundreds of worldwide radio stations, so I believe connectivity is fine. Even though we have 2 PCs on the network, I never tried file sharing between them, and I'm a little behind the curve of knowledge for stuff like this. I am guessing there are just a few software settings I need to make.

Yes. I do have this manual and have read it completely. Unfortunately, once it gets to the 'authorizing receiver' section it supplys zero information...suggesting that you defer to your instruction manual for the PC. And that being said.... information about AVRs is not covered. Also put some time in googleing as well. I think I may need a little more 'focused' help on the task. thanks.

The manual says the receiver uses Windows Media Connect and is also DLNA certified, so 'authorization' is going to be specific to whatever music server software is installed on the PC.

If you have Windows Media Player 11, right click on the title bar or system menu and choose Tools->Options. Go to the Library tab and click on Configure Sharing. Windows will share all files in your personal folders (such as \documents and settings\your_username\My Music). If you put your music in folders other than My Music, you need to click Monitor Folders and add that location (for example, I use c:\music so I have to add that as a 'monitored folder').

If you use more than one music player, I would highly suggest you UNCHECK 'delete files from computer when deleted from library'. The last thing you want WMP to do is delete the actual music file just because you decide to remove it from its library.

Note that sharing requires certain ports to be opened. If you have a firewall other than Windows Firewall you will have to manually open the required ports. They are listed in the help documentation.
