Auditioned HPM-100

Auditioned these and tweeters sound pretty lousy to me. Vocals not realistic, sound like they are coming out of a tiny box. If I could drop my JBL L110 dome tweeters in there I would have a nice speaker, imo. I don't have equipment to measure the HPM-100 components or xover design software to replace the Super Tweeter and Tweeter. Any suggestions? (I'm looking for deeper bass. My L110 has 10" woofers which do a good job but always looking for a better experience.) HPM-100 Crossover frequencies are at 3000, 4000 and 12,000. HPM-100 graphs:

I assume you are referring to the Pioneer HPM-100 which were manufactured around 1977. Maybe the set you auditioned has a problem.
