Audiosource Amp One/A

I already own one of these and use it for my zone 2. uBid has them on sale for $69 and I 'm thinking of picking up three and monobridging to power my fronts (M&K LCR851's 4 Ohm). Is this a good cost to value ratio, $85 ea X 3 (incl s+h) = $255. Or am I better off saving for a better quality amp which will likely cost me 4x as much.

I live in a small place, 300 sf, including bathroom and bedroom, and have 7' ceilings. This means extreme volumes are not currently possible. I'm looking for a little more power and can always use these later, if I upgrade for other zones or for friends.

Please, I'm looking for real experience and not a debate over all the usual stuff that comes up when someone asks about amps. No arguing please. Thanks Jack

Jump on these. Cannot beat the cost benefit ratio.

Inexpensive amps

Can't beat that price. In your range you might also consider a new Behringer A500 for $180 shipped. I have read good things about these and they deliver 230 Watts x 2 channels into 4 ohms.

I've considered those, but for a little over the cost of one behringer, I can have 3 of the audiosource amps. I believe both these amps are in the same range performance wise.

I missed the Amp one/a's on uBid the other day, I went to purchase three and they had already sold out of all they had. So I'm back to waiting for a deal again.

I was one of the 2 people that bought some of the Amp One/As on Ubid. I got 7 of them and the other person must have bought all 25 for him/herself. I've heard that they do pop up from time to time so hopefully they will get some more soon and you will be able to buy the 3 you needed.

If you want to see what they look like inside:

Not at retail or in stores that sell it new. Even Amazon has it for $200, $20 more than the Behringer, and less power?

No, not new. uBid has the factory refurbished audiosource amp one/a's with a 90 day warranty every couple of months for between $64-74 each, + shipping. It's not a full apples to apples comparison with warranties or cost or power, but for the price it's a pretty good deal. Like I said before, I believe both units are in the same general range, performance wise, not identical to each other, just not hugely different. Please correct me if I am mis-informed (wrong :))

The price comparison between the audiosource and the behringer units are approximately $600 for 3 new behringer units, including shipping, to $255 for 3 of the refurbished audiosource units, including shipping. I believe retail for both is approximately the same.

Yes, of course. I should have returned to your original post where you mentioned this:eek:
So, for that price, the Audiosource looks like the winner:D

The amp 100 is on ubid now for $69. It's a step up from the one/A. I am thinking about getting one if my T-amp arrives dead again (waiting for replacement #1:().

How do you Biamp the fronts if I only had 1 Audiosource Amp One. Do I just plug in the front pre outs to the L-R line in on the Audiosource amp? Or will I need 2 amps and bridge them and have the pre outs connect to the R line in on the amp. Thanks
Ken

If you don't actually need all that power, meaning your speakers aren't currently starved for power and pushing the limit of your current amplification, biamping probably isn't going to make a considerable difference.
