I'm rather new to the discovery that I care about sound quality a lot more than the people around me, and as such am trying to acclimate myself to home theatre systems.
I have two rooms, basically, that I want systems of sort for, that have different needs. I don't really want to spend more than 2,000 (student budget), but would be willing o over that if something worthwhile presented itself.
For one, the room is roughly 10x12. Volume is really not to important, as I want loud but not blaring. This room I was thinking of spending around 1-1.5, as here I would play movies and music. The music would be a variety, but ultimately one that focuses on mids then highs then sub. Sub still needs to be present and pungent, as mix music will be played.
I was looking at either Axiom M60, Polk Audio Monitor, or JBL Northridge series main fronts, a center I was sure about, and probably one of the respective matching series for rear surrounds (I don't need 7.1). For a sub, again I don't know at all. For a receiver or amp, I had no idea.
For the second room, something smaller and more gaming oriented would be better. Music would still be important, but highs and sub just need to be accurate, not so much punchy for what I would listen to (though maybe the sub for games). This system I was thinking of around 500 or so, as this one is really a part time thing and needs not be as immersive as the other. I was thinking about the Athena speakers and same receiver from the 1000 home speaker page. That, or maybe the Logtiech z-5500 system plus a high quality headset, if you can recommend any. The latter option here appeals to me a lot, if there is such a very high quality music headset available.
Saving money in either set up would always be preferable, as it might contribute to a possible future upgrade of the accompanying television.
Any help here is much appreciated. Any ideas at all.
