Audioholic in need of some Video Help

Alright so to start, I have a Denon AVR 985 as my receiver. Recently, I bought a 26'' Samsung computer monitor which I now have an interest in hooking up my receiver too because I no longer have a CRT Tv. Problem being, my monitor has HDMI, DVI, and VGA inputs, none of which the receiver has.

Now for the question:
I want to keep my receiver. I love it, and as a College student, don't really want to have to buy a new one. Is there a device out there that acts basically as a video receiver? I just would need something so that I can get video signals to my monitor. Im hoping perhaps some form of cheap video processor will do the job. Can anyone help point me in the right direction?

Thanks a bunch!

Perhaps an adapter cable that converts component video to VGA. Here is one at monoprice.com for about $4.

EDIT: Oops. It says that your monitor has to be able to handle this. Perhaps your monitor's documentation would mention something about that.

EDIT 2: Well, one of the reviews mentioned that someone hooked up their DVD player to their Dell monitor...

Thanks for the help.

I looked into the VGA cable, and never saw anything about it in the manual for my monitor which makes me kind of skeptical.

With that switch, will that be able to convert an analog signal from composite to HDMI or DVI? What about component? That's the major thing, cause none of my components have HDMI or DVI.

If it were me, I'd give the cable a try first. It's inexpensive, simple to implement, and may very well work. If the cable was $40, then I'd think a lot harder about it. However, for $4, I certainly think that it's worth a try.

They also sell a component video to DVI-I adapter, but your monitor is probably a DVI-D input (my guess).

I believe it is DVI-D.

I guess you're right about the cable. Its worth a shot at least.
