This Dove has decided to make a home for the spring on my Niles OS10. My kids are much more excited about this than I am. Anybody know if bird poop will stain the cabinet?

We get birds in our warehouses.

Bird poop seems to stain nearly everything that is plastic.

(my experience has been with plastic housing for alarms, emergency lighting etc)

Just kill it, but be sure to find its mate, too, or it will seek revenge upon you.
That was my first thought. :D The daddy is usually sitting on the fence looking after mommy so I'd have to kill both of them. Anybody have a pellet gun I can borrow? ;) And for all you tree huggers out there I'm just kidding about killing them. I think. :p

If there are no eggs in the nest yet just remove the nest. They will find another location...or get a cat! :D

I'd take the bird over the cat! My wife's cat chewed through my laptop ac/adapter, keyboard cable etc...

I agree, just remove the nest. It should de the trick.

Another thing you could do after you remove the nest is install something to block them from purching on top of the speaker, put a sloping board or something.

Good Luck

Dove's are the dumbest birds I have ever encountered. One pair tried to build a nest in my gutter. One good rain and...

As soon as I saw the birds building the nest I turned the speakers on hoping to scare them away. All I saw was their little heads bobbing up and down to Sheena Is A Punk Rocker by The Ramones. ;)

May I suggest traditional Chinese opera. To my western ears it sounds like trying to stuff a live cat into a pot of boiling oil!

That's the funniest thing I have read all day. I can picture them clear as day.

BTW, not sure about the pellet gun idea. Unless you are a good shot, you might take out the speaker. That's probably what the Bird wants. He's messing with you. Taunting you! He just want's the music to stop. I can here them now, " Quick, play like we like the Ramones, that will screw with him". They are tricky little creatures.

I say flick the bird the "Bird" and move his nest. Suit up in protective gear and move the nest. They are no match for pure size and strength.

You can get a plastic owl from wallyworld after you remove the nest. It works well.

A friend of mine gave me a plastic owl to protect my house from woodpeckers. It works great.

But before you get rid of the birds, be sure to check out their tweeters.

Moth balls and ammonia keep the squirrels out of my attic. 6 months to get rid of them. 3 bullet holes in my gutter, and insulation all over the place. Peanuts, peanut butter, etc... Nothing worked except a good shot with a .22

Voice of experience regarding the pellet gun. Bird poo is bad enough, but bird goo is really messy.

I vote for moving the nest.
