Audio/Video Splitting

What is the best way to split a composite output? I tried using a plain old composite y-cable but it degrades the quality considerably. Is it possible to get better splitters, or can I build one myself?

I assume you want to do this to send the video signal to two different display devices. You could use a simple a/b switch if you only need to view 1 at a time. If you want to view both at the same time, you really need an a/v distribution amplifier.
