Audio sync delay per input source?

I cannot find any recent discussion of the need for PER INPUT SOURCE audio sync delay compensation. The video delay of my Samsung 1080p HL-R6168W is enough to annoy me, and I am researching a new AVR to correct it. How essential is control of the delay per input?

I have a wide variety of sources: DishNetwork DVRs 942,508, and 501 (and 622 someday soon), Sony 3100ES upconverting DVD, and many SD sources such as Laserdisc and miniDV.

My top choice in receiver now is Yamaha RX-V2600, with only a global delay setting. A comparable Denon, like 2807 or 3806, appears to have a delay setting per input.

Will this matter, given my sources and my display, or is a single global setting, which is relatively easy to adjust, be acceptable.

Help!
