Original DCM Time Windows because I was moving and they needed some work
Thorens TD 280 with a Dynavector 10x3 not so much the TT because I have a Rega now but I miss that 10x3
Dual TT with a Shure V15 type 3 just miss the type 3
Finally my AKG Sextette probably the best phone I ever had - my girlfriends cockatiel chewed them up.

Yeah I had some New Advents back in the late 70s. Nice but the Polk 7Bs I purchased later had a more natural sound. Still as you say - the nostalgia. Never owned JBL 100s though and I kind of think I missed out on that "west coast sound"

I grew up on that west coast sound I suppose, plus I lived on the west coast to boot. Several houses I hung out in had the L100s and then later hung around in various studios where similar were employed so heard them plenty, but when I got the Advents in 72 I was only 16 and budget limited.

I know. Who knew they'd be that valuable? But between living on poor boys wages and newly married, it was hard to justify keeping them. And of course in time cassette's and reel-to-reel players lost their allure with the advent of digital music.

I've never been one to get nostalgic about old technology and still don't understand the resurgence of vinyl. Add in the quantum jump in speaker technology and the circle was complete. As good as the JBL's sounded at the time, I don't think they came close to sounding as good as my Focal's, Salk's & KEF LS50's do today. I do regret selling the Polk LS70's though. My wife hated the looks and they were overkill for the 14'x14' room I put them in. This was before the modern parametric equalization days. I bet my current Yamaha AVR's could have tamed them, using YPAO. Oh well.

I had used JBL L100s as my main speakers from 1973 until 2007. Although they do sell for high prices today, they are not as good as their reputation from the 1970s had it.

In 2006 I replaced the original JBL crossovers with a totally new design created by Dennis Murphy. His crossover made for a significantly different and much better sound. It was, only my first step in learning just what really made some speakers sound good. Soon I moved on to some much better speakers and never looked back. Now my L100s are gathering dust. I really should try to sell them.

My album collection...

Not that it was so large (maybe 150-200 max), but I was an apartment dweller back then so I moved around a lot, and I was tired of lugging them from place to place. Went I got my 1st real hifi system, I was all in on CDs...when I was ready to leave FL for NYC, my ex-roommate ask if I was taking my albums and I said no, how much will you give for all of them...iirc it was about $100.

Now, vinyl is back and I've moved on...part of me regrets that.

I did the same thing when I sold my Thorens with the Dynavector. But I got called back into the LP fold when I found a used Rega Planar 3 with an upgraded 24v motor and a new carbon cartridge. Now I have a nice collection of used (but in good shape) LPs from Half Price Books and other sources. Mostly LPs that I don't have on CDs.

Wow...regardless of genre, 200+ discs is a lot...that probably still burns a little.

Very cheap way to discover/explore music. Classical albums from Goodwill and Salvation Army for $1.00 plus tax are often in decent shape. A lot of times there is something to read about the music and composer.

Sold! Pat's using L60's or something like that. Stepping up in the audio food chain to a DM xo mod is a no brainer. I'll ask him. Maybe I should have said, "Sale Pending". Be prepared to haggle. Pat still has his communion money.

EDIT: On the original topic, a 2 way Infinity Primus center ... that's about it. It worked well enough and had a small form factor.
