Audio Setup -- Confused

Well I am going to be buying a whole new Audio system for the new place me and my girlfriend are getting.

Lets just say I cannot decide on a decent setup, I'm not exactly a hardcore audiophile but I have a decent understanding with audio.

Anyway due to there being a girlfriend the aesthetics are very important, a lot of speakers have a unappealing generic box design which my girlfriend goes "meh".

The speakers have to available in black.

Currently I have fallen in love with the JL subwoofers specifically the Fathom f112 or maybe even f113, depends. So I would really like to keep that in the mix due to its shear power for my girlfriend (we are young, so apply the teenage stereotype :D). We basically like the deep rumble.

At first I was going to get a setup like some Epic 80/600 stuff from Axoim Audio ( axiomaudio.com/epic80_600main.html# ) but I find it pretty ugly. What I'm looking for is something like this but with some sort of style that isn't just a plain rectangle box preferably, although I could make those work without problem. I don't really have any budget in mind but I would like to keep it around the price of the 5.1 setup, although variations are ok as long as its not something crazy like 15,000.

I am also wondering what kind of equipment I would need to power speakers such as these properly, I will be buying the furniture, TV, and all that based on the speakers. Most likely a typical bigscreen LCD TV.

We like video games, new movies, and regular Hip Hop/ R&B type music, and we like it to be loud when we want it to be loud, so thats important.

My current setup just consists of a Yamaha Receiver and Athena bookshelf speakers and a BIC Venturi V1220 Sub, nothing crazy but still great. Looking for a major upgrade.

Thank You for any help, HIGHLY APPRECIATED.

Why is black a must,in most cases i know of where WAF is important the lil woman prefers a sweet looking wood grain furniture grade finish over standard HT black.

Two things you stated caught my attention.

Your looking at one of the more expensive subwoofers (yes it's one of the best) but you don't want to spend "crazy" money.

For the cash you will save with the Ultra you could put it into other areas of your system. And with the laws of diminishing returns, I think it would be hard to justify the JL Audio

This complies with the overall theme of the house, I personally could care less if the TV sat on card board boxes, the wires where everywhere. I just want it to work. She does not want light colors, I will just have to respect that.

Yeah, I realize the pricetag is somewhat hefty, I don't care too much for the price in the end but I just meant that I do not want to pay over 10,000 for the audio setup and I am sure that is possible as I do not have such high demands of a speaker system as a real audiophile would probably have. I am even posting in the beginners forum.

Thank you for the advice, I have that saved in my bookmarks for deeper review.
